invites//lake//pool//job

We finished our invitations and sent them all out! Let's just say we are glad to be done and we started when it was dark out and ended when it was light. We were pooped. We were way excited when we got the invites too, they look amazing! We both love them so much! My mom worked so hard on them--Thanks Mom!!

This past week has been filled with swimming, finally! My cousin Scott and I went to the Great Salt Lake. I know what you're thinking...something like EW! Gross...Why?! Something along those lines I am sure...but its okay, because actually, it was way fun! Let me give you the run down....so basically the only thing that can live in the Salt Lake is these little shrimp things, so no need to be scared of lake monsters or fish biting you or anything, and there's certainly not a lot of people either! So the thing is, at the shore, yes it is stinky, and there are dead little shrimp things everywhere...sick. And there are tons of little gnat/fly things too! The first maybe 20 feet of the lake or so is so nasty...you are stepping in dead shrimpies everywhere, and its like squishy in your toes, and it creeps me out...but you get out past that and its all gravy. The bottom is so smooth, and the sand is nice. Its all flat and the water is actually clear! You can walk out really really far too. We walked out so far that I wanted to take a picture of Scott to see how far away he was and it took me like 10-15 minutes to swim back to shore (not like speed swimming or anything, but you know what I mean) and by the time I got back to shore and got my camera out, I honestly could not see him. At all. Pretty crazy. Oh, and the water was really warm! So yes, I want to go back and bring some friends once I make some haha and bring a ball to play catch with or something.

David and I decided to go to the public pool on Saturday! It was really fun. There were a bunch of people there, but it wasn't too bad at all. We stayed for about three hours, and we didn't have any sunscreen! David got pretty messed up, poor thing. I came out looking burnt but not nearly as bad. That was Dave's first time swimming in 3 years! CRAZY. The water was nice and warm, and there were slides and diving boards too. We definitely want to go again, maybe after we buy some sunblock. ;)

We bought David's wedding ring this weekend! So that's really exciting news! :)
Bri got a job at Morgan Jewelers (full time) and starts tomorrow! Bri will be living at Jenny & Kenny's now which is right around the corner from Dave, which is pretty sweet! Thanks to Uncle Darrell for having me and thanks to Jen and Ken for taking me! <3 We are so blessed and so excited for all of our opportunities. We decided that we will be staying in Logan, and to NOT go to Idaho. We have looked around at some apartments and town homes and found one we reallllllly like! Fingers crossed that we can get it! School is not out the window or anything, so don't worry! We will live here for a year and work, gain residency, and then David will go to school at Utah State, which is here in Logan. There is also an option for me and dental hygiene, if I still want to do that when the time rolls around. There is a technical school call Bridgerland here in town with a dental assisting program and after that I can transfer to multiple colleges...so we will see what happens. Anyways, we are so excited to be able to stay here with family, both of us have full time jobs, and also be able to do our schooling. We are so happy and can't wait to get our own place soon! YAY!

Fun Filled Weekend :)

So... Matt & Sam (David's Aunt and Uncle) played a FATTY prank on us!!
And a good one I must admit. We have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our wedding invitations in the mail...so Dave and I are sitting in the kitchen just minding our own business being good little children and all of the sudden the doorbell rings. Sam said she thought it was the UPS guy as she sat nonchalantly on the couch. Instantly, Dave and I look at each other with such excitement as we raced to the door. We opened it up and there was a package, but it didn't look quite normal. There was an envelope that said "use this to defend yourselves". We were so confused...just as we started to open the box, Matt comes flying around the corner with a huge water gun and just starts attacking us! Next thing we knew he had water balloons too! We were drenched instantly. Matt has some pretty good aim! haha We pulled the box inside and opened it up to find some water balloons and mini squirt guns. Of course MINI! So not fair! Well anyways, Sam disappeared somewhere so we took the opportunity to double team Matt. David ran through the garage and out from behind him and I came running out the front door. He had a huge bucket of water balloons out there that we dumped over and started ambushing him with. He got owned, needless to say. :) Where was Sam??...It is still a mystery. When she decided to stroll out and check on her teammate, she got attacked with what was left. Not only did Dave and I have a disadvantage of being surprise attacked, we also had less than half the ammo, yet we still came out on top! Team DB won for sure! ha :) I think Matt & Sam have opened the door for a prank war--they don't know what's coming...hehe This should be fun!

Saturday was a fun day for us. We went to the movie theater with Matt & Sam and Jenny & Kenny (who are another Aunt & Uncle). We saw The Green Lantern. It was quite terrible but it was fun to go out with all of them :) Basically the movie had terrible CGI , cheesy scenes, and a whole lot of build up for a terrible ending. We think there is going to be a second one and we know we are not watching it. If anything...redbox; because then its only $1 wasted.  After the movies David took me to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. It's like his favorite place. It was way fun! I hadn't ever been there before. We had excellent service and they even gave us some free ribs since it was my first time! (I think it will be my first time everytime from now on!) ;) The food was really good and super filling! The staff also dances to certain songs...they probably need to practice a little bit more, but that's okay! :)

We got a CALLING in the ward!!! Yay! Our first calling together; we are so excited! Guess what it is.....

Primary Teachers!!!! We are going to fit right in! :)

So we don't quite know exactly what class we will be teaching, but the manual we have says ages 4-7...so anywhere in that range I guess. This should be so much fun! We are way excited to get to know some people in the ward! ;)

I think that's about it. Wedding plans are still coming along, invites should be here tomorrow, we will not fall for any more tricks! Love D & B

Living in Utah

So as you all know, I am now living in Utah. It has been great so far! Right now I am living with my Uncle Darrell and my cousins Scott and Carly out in Magna (outside of Salt Lake City). It is so great to see them! I never got to grow up with my Robbins side of the family too much so I enjoy seeing them and getting to know them. Scott, his friend Kristin, and I went out to a field right by our house and flew some kites the other day. Mine was batman and was awesome. We only tangled our kites once..hehe. I haven't flown a kite in YEARS. I know my Dad would be so happy! :) Last Sunday, my cousin Kristin and her husband Branden had their baby blessed at church. Afterwards there was a get together at their house with a ton of family and friends! I'm so glad that Dave and I could be there. It was so great to see my aunts, uncles, cousins and spouses, and all the kiddos and my grandparents as well! :) David got to meet them for the first time and they already love him! (who doesn't though) He's so wonderful. Yes, I have found a job as well! I work in the Fashion Place Mall (which is about 20 minutes away from home) at a clothing store called Vanity which is like a trendy women's clothing store...I have never even heard of it before but anyways; I thought all was going to be fine and dandy...so I went to the orientation, all the girls were nice and I was excited to start working. (I got the job the first week I was here in Utah) I think I am now starting on my 3rd week and I am just starting work with a whopping 5 hour shift! Yep...that's it! I am so incredibly mad. I think they could tell when I called for my schedule. So I am going to go in and give it a shot but I am looking for something else for sure. Ridiculous. Well on the weekends I get to see David and it is such a blessing. I am so glad we are actually close now. Well an hour and a half away, but that's not bad at all compared to 10 or 11!

David and I went disc golfing at a local park, it was my first time ever, and it was so much fun! I think we are going to do that more often. :) David said I did pretty good, although he is probably just being nice.

Virgil Gibbons Heritage Park.

This is where David proposed to me on 5/11/11. Yesterday was our one month mark of being engaged. :)
Dave can't keep his eyes open. I think it's hilarious! I might have to buy some tape or some glue or something to make sure they're open for our wedding photos!!! ;) Any ideas?

  • We decided to make some peanut butter ball things that Sam made one time, they were delicious. They are super easy and way good! Of course we made a mess and he put chocolate all up my nose!

Back at the park, swingin' on swings, playin' in tunnels and stuff :)

Also a little news about this past week...we got the invitations ordered! YAY! Thanks to my mommy for making them. They look so great; I can't wait to get them in the mail and ship them all off! We are finishing up ring shopping...it is, well...a process. I like diamonds too much. Shiny ones. Who woulda thought! ;) We had a redbox date night yesterday, those are the greatest. We saw 'Just Go With It' with Adam Sandler. Course we liked it! And David bought me some "cancer sticks" to go along with it. Papa Mayes got me stuck on that phrase forever now! Well I think that's about it. We will try to stay interesting for you all. Love love love you guys <3 D & B

Our Love Story

Once upon a time, there was a boy named David and a girl named Briana. They grew up in very different lands. He was raised in farmville Iowa working in the cornfields and delivering newspaper while she lived in sunny California working at ice cream shops and trampoline stores. David had a family full of sisters, while Briana grew up with a bunch of boys. One day Bri's brother decided to go on a mission, four months later David decided the same thing. They were both placed in Colorado. They ended up living next to each other and going on lunch dates and stuff. David liked the pictures of Jeremy's family...so much that he wanted to write his sister. David wrote a very simple letter to Briana (which is no longer in existence because it was thrown away once it was received). Briana saw the letter and was very puzzled, she didn't know this person and at the time, she didn't want to, so she went on her merry way. In the meantime, David waited in anticipation and agony for her reply. When there was no sign of hope, he decided it would be best to move on and write other girls, although none of which were nearly as hot as Briana. David and Briana continued on their separate ways. Nineteen months later, while sitting in church, Bri was very disturbed by the young men that were trying to be her heart-keeper. She had been on many terrible, terrible, awkward, horrific dates and was sick of it. She wondered where all the normal guys were...so she asked her brother. He excitedly told her of a wonderful man named David. She told him to show her his facebook. Instantly. Once she saw that, she knew there was strong potential for some firework action. Within five minutes, David and Briana were texting. The next day, they took the next step...skype. After texting and chatting on skype, within three days she had agreed to travel to Logan, Utah to visit this newfound glory. With the accompaniment of a good friend, she made it to him safely. The trip lasted a wondrous five days. After ice skating in the crisp air, roaming the streets of The Gateway Mall, admiring the beautiful temple lights, and snowboarding the majestic snowcapped peaks at The Canyons, fireworks began as their lips first met on New Years Day. The mega-date seemed to end all too soon. David had to move to Idaho for school while Bri traveled back to California to continue her education as well. The two didn't quite know where this was all going to go...afterall...he was in Idaho and she was in California. He was at BYU in a land full of eager-to-be-housewives, while she was in the no-man land of Sacramento. They continued to pursue each other, but with an uncertain future the long distance became unbearable. David decided it was time to date other girls while Bri continued on with her sketchy dates. Bri was very lonely and missed David terribly, she couldn't stop thinking about him and wanted something to change. Little did she know, David felt the same way. David decided to come to California, an 11 hour journey through the wilderness by himself, all for her. Upon his arrival, Bri was jumping in his arms with joy! The two decided to spend some time on the trampoline under the stars, when Dave told her he loved her. Bri was so happy and shared her love for him too. They decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend for real. Of course the trip ended fast, but they had a blast going mini golfing, and an exceedingly long trip to San Francisco so that Dave could see the ocean for his first time, but when they got there wasn't able to because of the terrible tsunami in Japan that closed down beaches everywhere. An agonizing month and half of only skype dates passed before they were rejoined. David's whole family gathered together in Utah for his sister's wedding. Bri and Dave decided it would be best if she came to meet them all. Little did she know, she would be receiving the most beautiful ring she had ever seen. David took her to the park and played her a sweet melody on his guitar before he popped the question. When he asked her of course she said YES! She was in shock jumping up and down, and hugging him so hard she almost broke his ribs. After the wedding weekend, Bri had to go to home and finish her finals for school. Two days later, David came to her and helped her moved out to Utah so that they could be together. They are scheduled to be married in the Sacramento Temple on July 30th where they will begin their lives together forever.
